Dubai

Dubai:

Dubai isn’t a place, it’s a symphony between the dessert and the metropolitan cityscape. The discovery of oil in 1966 kick started the expansion of present day Dubai, however Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum (ruler from 1958 till 1990) realized that Dubai could not rely on its oil reserves and to start developing the city to generate income beyond oil. Thus the focus zoned in on the tourist industry which would prove to be the most lucrative over the coming years. In 1989 the Dubai Commerce and Tourism Promotion Board was established, to promote Dubai as a luxury destination for the upper-tier market and influential business sectors and it largely succeeded. Today, every flight stops at Dubai because of its strategic location and trips are booked for bridal showers, shopping sprees, budgeted holidays, sightseeing, and even to rejuvenate and party.
