Food:

Turkish food like its monuments and history is defined by a cluttered mix of ottoman cuisine that fuses multiple influences like central asian and middle eastern to name a few!

There isn’t a street in Turkey that is devoid of the world famous baklava, a Mediterranean parcel of joy consisting of crispy filo pastry bursting at the seams with decadent nuts especially pistachios cemented together with a dreamy sweetness of honey or syrup.

Tantalizingly rich kebabs are another famous delicacy, dotted all over Turkey. The country boasts of the world famous doner kebabs, smothered with cool yogurt and rich chutneys.

Experience a variety of cooking styles in each of its culturally rich cities with hearty meals like the spicy kofte and fragrant rice in some, and light breads and steamed fish cooked in olive oil in the rest!

The land of spirituality:

Perhaps you have read the forty rules of love and pine for the city of Konya, that the greatest Sufi saints like Maulana Rumi and Shams  Tabrizi once walked on, or perhaps its your restless heart that made you turn towards Turkey, we assure you that the country’s very winds sing Rumi’s couplets and you can experience a hefty dose of his teachings and message of love if you visit his famous shrine at Konya and even in every single conversation on the Turkish streets.

You will find Turkey breathing spirituality with its beautiful mosques and the mysterious dervishes whirling in the ecstatic motion of Sema, their renowned circling dance.

Role in International Tourism:

With its intricately carved mosques and modern night places both, Turkey is a one stop destination for explorers, Sufis and adventurers alike. Turkey has actively worked on highlighting its unique blend in the global tourism scene.

A major growing sector since the 1980s, Turkey relies heavily on Tourism to contribute to its GDP – which is estimated at 11%. Drastic developments in this sector have placed Turkey at the sixth position on the highly sought after list of the most important tourist destination worldwide (2011) and fourth as the most visited holiday country in the Mediterranean region.

A pool of prestigious Investments – private as well as public – has led to a global influx of tourists, especially because Turkey offers the perfect blend of East and West in the simplest of ways, winning the hearts of more and more tourists with each passing day.
